Friday Favorites - It's almost October

I can't believe tomorrow is the first day of October. Where is the time going? I guess it's time to pull out the pumpkins, gourds and Halloween decorations. (I know a lot of you probably already have.) I can't get them out until the first of October because I kid you not, on Halloween night I'm so sick of looking at them and I have to take them down.

I was in Hobby Lobby this week and you know I'm not even kidding when I tell you that they have Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations out.

It's Friday and we all know what that means. Time to link up with ErikaNarci, and Andrea for Friday Favorites.

ONE

Making new friends!!!

Tuesday night I went with these two sweet ladies to an event in the cutest little downtown area not far from where I live. You bought a ticket to it and then local restaurants had samples of some of the things they serve. You could eat along the way and stop in the stores to shop at the same time. It was a warm night and we had a lot of fun.

This adorable little store was one of the stops. It's fashioned like an old timey (that's a word, right?) store where you can buy snacks, a gallon of milk, etc... or ice cream. You can drive through or walk up.  We got a full size ice cream cone as part of the deal.

TWO

Are you familiar Nothing bundt Cakes?
Well if you're not, you're gonna' want to change that.
This is a bakery that just as the name suggests has nothing but bundt cakes and they are quite possibly the best cakes EVER.

#pickingissohard

We became acquainted with them a couple of years ago. I'm not sure what there secret is, but a lot of recipes that claim to be "knock offs" have sour cream in them and that might account for the super moist quality. Then there's the whole CREAM CHEESE frosting thing. You could put cream cheese frosting on a leather shoe and I just might eat.

And as if we need more of a reason to stop in there, when you go in they have samples of different cakes.

Katie and Kent like to go in and get samples even if we aren't buying any.
#shameless

THREE

My new favorite color of nail polish for my toes for the fall. Since we can wear flip flops and sandals all but a few months out of the year it means keeping my toenails painted.

This is the perfect fall color. I think it goes with everything.
It's called Navy Fleet.

So like I told you in an earlier post (HERE) we started watching this new series and as of right now, we are both HOOKED! The first episode had a surprise ending and we were all "WHAT???"

Well if you think episode one's ending was a shocker, you're definitely going to need to watch episode two! The end came and I literally yelled "WHAT?, I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!" and this is from a girl who is constantly driving her family nuts predicting what's about to happen next on shows.
#itsagift #yesimtalkingaboutme

I think every single blogger I read is watching this show and loving it as much as we are.

Easiest Ever Pumpkin Spice Muffins

I also feel this way about Thursdays!!! ;)

Pumpkin season is officially here for a lot of people and for the rest it's just around the corner. That means it's time to get out all of those yummy pumpkin recipes.

Today I've got a recipe for you that is seriously so easy to throw together and surprisingly delicious. When I was originally introduced to these by my friend Cindi (#thanks) I was a little skeptical since they only call for 4 ingredients, 5 if you throw caution to the wind and add nuts.

The recipe calls for a Spice Cake Mix and I usually keep one in my pantry but I was out...WHAT??? Ok, so now what?  This is where I consult my best friend, GOOGLE and he/she comes through yet again.  I find what I need to do to take a yellow cake mix and turn it into a spice cake mix.

To your yellow cake mix add 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice, and 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg.

Because this is how life works, I of course had whole allspice. I got out my coffee grinder and threw some in and BOOM, ground allspice. Crisis averted!!!

If you have a Spice Cake Mix, you can forget about the grinder and spices...easy, peasy.

This HUGE mini muffin tin is AWESOME! #getone

This is a really thick batter.

Best tool for filling muffin cups of any size.  A larger one is perfect for cupcakes.
#helpfulhint

Ready for the oven.

I'll bet you can't eat just one! They are bite size and so delicious.

Pumpkin Spice Muffins

Spice Cake Mix
1 Can Pumpkin Puree (Not Pumpkin pie filling)
1 Individual serving unsweetened apple sauce cup
1 bag Cinnamon Chips (sometimes these are seasonal, but WalMart always seems to have them)

Mix all ingredients together. Divide between paper lined muffin tins. This will make almost 5 dozen mini-muffins. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Since these have no oil, eggs, or butter  but do have pumpkin and applesauce I somehow feel a little less guilty eating them.

Let me know how you like them.

What's Up Wednesday - September Edition

I totally cannot believe it's already time to link up with Mel, Shay and Sheaffer for another WUW (What's Up Wednesday). This month has gone screaming by in ways and in other ways it's been a super long month. I mean, I can't believe it was just last month we took Katie to school. It truly feels like she's been gone for months already.

So in case you are wondering, here's "What's Up" with us.
Here's what we'll be covering.

WHAT WE'RE EATING THIS WEEK...
Monday night I decided to try a "low carb" recipe from Pinterest.

photo from Skinny Mom

I added a salad of Romaine lettuce, Trader Joe's Gorgonzola (my fav) and Bolthouse Farm Yogurt Blue Cheese Dressing.
We liked the whole dinner and give it 2 thumbs up.
Last night I went out with a couple of new friends to a fun little event that was a "Taste and Stroll" in a quaint downtown area near our home so no cooking for me.
#nocookingforme

As for the rest of the week, your guess is as good as mine. I used to be really good at planning menus for the weeks when my kids were younger, but somehow over the years I've become more of a fly by the seat of my pants kind of cook.

WHAT I'M REMINISCING ABOUT...
It seems as though I'm reminded through pictures I see of Katie at school about my time there and all the special friendships I made. Sometimes I'd really love to be able to go back for a day and just relive some of those fun times.

WHAT I'M LOVING...
Honestly, I'm loving that my Rodan + Fields business has had the best month ever
Thank you so much to all of my customers and helping me to feel and be successful.
And I'm just going to throw this out there one more time in case you've previously missed it. There are 3 more days (counting today) to take advantage of this AWESOME special corporate has been running.

Below are some pictures of great results.
Let's see your "Before and After". Try them and fall in love with these products for yourself.

Just look at the difference in the texture of her skin...AMAZING!!!
If you are interested in trying this for yourself there is no better time than during this special.
Check out my personal website at www.lrichardson3.myrandf.com or email, or comment with any questions.

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO...
This month we took a quick trip to Oklahoma to visit Kent's parents.

We took them to Starbuck's for the FIRST TIME IN THEIR LIVES???
Say WHAT???
Yes, you read that right. ;)

WHAT I'M DREADING...
More Presidential Debates...Need I say more?

WHAT I'M WORKING ON...
Over the weekend I painted our coffee table to go with our new sofa that was delivered Saturday. WOW!!! What a HUGE difference it makes it the feeling of the room.

I'm leaving the things that normally sit on the table off for about a week to give the wax time to cure.

WHAT I'M EXCITED ABOUT...
I'm on the verge of hitting 20,000 pageviews on my blog. Now to some people that is no big deal, but I'm majorly excited to hit this milestone. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read it and see what's going on in my little space.

WHAT I'M WATCHING/READING...
This one is easy. I did a blog post Monday on Entertainment which covered both of these topics. You can read it HERE
.
WHAT I'M LISTENING TO...
Literally I'm listening to the quiet hum of the dishwasher but I also have been playing a few songs I downloaded from iTunes on repeat.
Watch this video by clicking HERE
I dare you to watch it or listen to it and tell me it's not a happy song.
Funny story...we're listening to it in the car and Kent tells me in his mind he's "doing the worm".
#allthelaughingemojis
This is another one I'm loving listening to. Click HERE to watch video.

WHAT I'M WEARING...

It's remaining HOT here in Northern California so summer clothes are pretty much still in full rotation...it's supposed to cool down this weekend, so maybe I'll get to break out a sweater.

WHAT I'M DOING THIS WEEKEND...
That's a good question! We have no plans at the moment, so we'll just have to see what we come up with.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH...
We are going to Nashville to visit these two!
This mama's heart is ready!

And then as long as I'm on that side of the country I decided it would be a great opportunity to hop on over to visit my parents.

WHAT ELSE IS NEW...
I can't think of anything. We are just going along and doing what we do. That's the thing about our now empty nest. I don't have funny stories like mama's with funny little kids at home. But that's okay, because we go out and do whatever we want, whenever we want. So I'd just say embrace the stage of life while they're little and embrace the stages that come as they grow.
#itsallgood

BONUS QUESTION
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FALL RECIPE...
I'm a big ol' sucker for recipes that have PUMPKIN in them for fall.
One of my favorites is this  Double Chocolate Pumpkin Cake I like to pass off as a breakfast bread ;)
I got the recipe from...you guessed it Pinterest and I'm going to do a post about it next week.

Whew, that's a lot of information.
Happy hump day friends!

Try It On Tuesday - Loft Edition

Hey there friends!
Well as promised, today is Try It On Tuesday for my visit to Loft.

When I saw this I almost didn't bother trying it on. It's this years version of the sweater people went bonkers over last year and I pretty much thought, "been there, done that".
This is last years and Katie giving me a tutorial on the art of taking "selfies". HAHAHA

OK, back to the sweater...

I LOVE the back of this years version. The cute gathered detail is adorable. This sweater also comes in black with polka dotted hem and a solid teal  that I didn't see in the store, but love online.

Ponchos are everywhere this season! I mean EVERYWHERE!!! I already knew before I went in the store I was looking for this one and wanted to try it on.

I don't know what's going on with my face and causing me to have a lovely double chin...not great with a turtleneck. This poncho is heavy. That might sound weird, but it is. Having said that, I think it would be really warm...probably too warm for where I live, but if you are in a colder climate this might be the one for you.

I continue to search for tee's that don't look awful on me. I actually like this one. It's a swing style which works much better for someone short waisted like myself. I love the sleeve length and it would work perfectly for transitioning from summer to fall or winter to summer with layers.

I've already declared my new found love for plaid so this one shouldn't come as a surprise. It's cute, flowy, soft, all good things.

This little blouse can be dressed up or down. It's obviously thin and you have to wear something under it. I'm going to be very honest, if you are little lumpy and bumpy this might not be for you. It was a little clingy (I think I had acquired some static by the time I got to this one) so you'll have to test it out for yourself. It's really a pretty blouse though.

Comfy? Yes. Roomy? Yes. Longer length? Yes.
It sounds better than it looks on me...LOL. I think I should have tried a half tuck in the front with this one. It would likely work better on a taller person and the photo really doesn't do it justice. It's cuter than it appears.

I saw this blouse online and liked it, but worried those sleeves would drive me ape crazy. I'm thinking I just might have to risk it, because it's SO cute!!! LOVE this one.

I pretty much loved everything about this poncho. It's a lighter weight and has built in sleeves.
#yes

Use code Coasttocoast2 for 15% of all Kinsley Armelle jewelry.

 See? Sleeves...love that!

Hangs slightly longer in the back.

UGH...I can not find the link to this sleeveless tunic anywhere on Loft's site.
I can tell you that I'm seeing this style everywhere for this time of year. Here I have it on with jeans, and below with some army green cargo pants. I think you could also pair it with a dressier pant for work wear.

I. love. these. pants.
End of story!

They are soft, cute, fit great!!! LOVE.

Sweater tunic looks adorable with them and looks cute with a necklace.

This plaid tunic is a really soft, flowy material. It would look super cute with black leggings and brown boots.

I loved the look of a half tuck with these cargo pants! (heart emoji)

Hope you got some good ideas from my little dressing room excursion. Again, I'm simply amazed how different clothes look on a "real" woman versus the models used on the website.

Happy Tuesday!!!
