Try It On Thursday

One of the best things about online shopping is you don't have to go out and try on clothes. One of the worst things about online shopping is you don't have to go out and try on clothes. Obviously there are both good and bad things about both methods. I just seem to find myself spending less time at the mall in the dressing room and more time in my house trying on things I've ordered. Well this week I had some of those things I ordered that needed to be returned so I grabbed up a few things to try on and share with you.

I wasn't too sure about this one when I picked it up, but thought I'd give it a try. You would definitely want to wear a cami under it (like I happen to have on) because it's thin. It's cute, and think if I was little taller I'd like it better. There are also several solids available that were cute.

This one I've actually been eyeing on line and wanting to try on. I tried it on it black and in an orangey-red. They are both super soft and I love the ruffle detail at the sleeve. They have a more generous cut for a tee so it hangs better at the bottom, but again I think it would look better if my torso was a little longer. I was kinda of sad when I put it on since was a little long, but I might give it a try in a petite and see how that works. Fingers crossed because this shirt is seriously made out of some dreamy fabric.

I thought the eyelet detail at the waist was so cute and then loved how it was done on the back. Always a sucker for a cute detail. I really did like this top and loved the way it hung and thought it would be so comfortable and cool for the summer. I have on a small, but I think an extra small might fit better.

I LOVED the double ruffle on the sleeves on this top and the peplum. Both huge trends for spring. The sides of the peplum have a handkerchief effect and add interest to the hem line. I think this shirt will also translate to fall as well, making it a double winner and a lot bang for your buck. I love an item that can be transitional instead of season specific.

See, just look at those darling sleeves.

The more I look at this one, the more I like it but I tried it on in a black print as well that I think I like even better.

The black looks great with white jeans, which on a side note I'm still on the hunt for some that are a little more forgiving for those of us with not so stellar legs. These NYDJ are the closest I've found, but I'm still not sold. The NYDJ are really nice and thick so they aren't as see through as a lot of the white jeans that are out there.

This top would also look great with the same jeans in guava color.

And I don't know if I just didn't see it or what but the blouse comes in a really pretty floral. I need something floral so I can grab that trend and this might be the answer.

This was one of my favorites from my little excursion. It's oh so soft and I do love soft fabrics. I also loved the 3/4 sleeves. Perfect for spring and summer and layering in the winter. This shirt is nice and long in the back and covers your bum so I'd say hooray to that. It's available in 5 other colors along with the black, but you know how I love my black clothes. This shirt like most Bobeau tops runs a little large so I sized down to an x-small.

So there you have it. I know it's been a while since I've done one of these posts so I hope you liked seeing some of the styles out there on a real person. For reference, I'm almost 5'3" tall. I'm the shorty in our family.

Now I'm off to finish packing, get a quick workout in, pack some fruit to eat on the plane and head to the airport.

Happy Thursday and happy shopping friends!

Remixing Old Pieces

I don't know about you, but I tend to wear the same outfit the same way and not make the most of my individual pieces of clothing. Well not yesterday. I was combing through my closet trying to decide what to put on came up with a new "combo". I was just running out to do a few errands and then coming home to do stuff around the house and wanted to look casual, but put together. I think I pulled it off. LOL

 shoes / jeans /  tank options 1, 2 / military jacket 1, 2, 3 / necklace

Most of these pieces are from last year with the exception of the shoes and jacket and the jacket is sold out, but I'm linking several great alternatives if you didn't grab this one while it was on sale. A military jacket is truly a great staple to have in your closet. These shoes...well, this was the 3rd time I'd worn my new wedges since getting them over the weekend so I know they are a now a new "go to".

To switch up my daily dose of denim I decided to forgo the usual skinny jeans and grab these girlfriend jeans. There are girlfriend and boyfriend jeans. Jeans are so confusing. HA. I think girlfriend are relaxed with being quite as baggy as the boyfriend cut and are a little more figure flattering. I forgot what it was like to wear jeans that are looser in the legs it's been so long...hahaha. I guess I should branch out and shop my closet a little more often.

My wedges are from Macy's and they are still having a terrific shoe sale. Buy 3 or more pairs and get 40% off, 2 pairs get 30% off and buy one pair and get 25% off.  These wedges are really are great alternative to some of the more expensive counter parts available this season.

(yes, I should have carried my other purse to match my shoes...oh well)

So take a look around your closet and grab some pieces you haven't worn together to create a new outfit. Easier said than done, I know.

Today is Wednesday...so you know what that means!
Tomorrow we go to see the kids. Insert all the praise hands here!

Happy hump day friends!

A New Favorite

I am without a doubt a spring and summer girl. These are my seasons! I love being able to go out of the house with a single layer on and being comfortable all day long. Living in Northern California the weather from early spring til' mid summer is very temperate. Just like the story of the three bears it's neither too hot or too cold, it's just right. Sound familiar?

Last week I pulled out this new tunic that I ordered over a month ago and I've been dying to wear. I love it. It's the perfect weight and I'm already reaching for it frequently. I know for sure it will be coming with me on my trip later this week.

You can't go wrong pairing it with jeans but it would be adorable with a peachy colored pair of jeans as well. I wore it with distressed jeans from Old Navy, below.

I ordered my tunic from Loft. It's the Lou & Grey line they carry and they are some of my favorite pieces. All of their items are made of the softest fabrics and so comfortable. Loft has sold out, but the Lou & Grey site still has it in stock.

This tunic is on sale for under $40 in limited sizes.

Here are two more options that are the same style and both so very cute.

And because sometimes you just have to make a funny face...

Yesterday I grabbed it and put it on again and paired it with my frayed hem jeans from Old Navy which I am also wearing over and over. These jeans have a "sculpt" feature built in and are dreamy. They are super comfortable and have the perfect amount of stretch and have yet to bag out at the knees or backside.

I love when a shirt is long enough to cover the booty and isn't clingy.

Take a close look at my new wedges. Yes, I wore them 2 days in a row. If your feet are narrow then these will likely work for you, but even if your feet are a little wider they'll still work. Mine aren't totally filling them out.

I love that these are a tall heel, but they don't feel like it when you are wearing them. I don't feel like I'm going to topple over and my feet don't get all tired and achy the way a normal heel makes them feel after walking in them for not very long.

In case you're wondering, the goats are still there but they've moved them to another part of the field. I wonder how long they'll be there?

Alright friend, that's it for today. Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday.

Weekend Wrap Up - Empty Nesters

Happy Monday and happy 3rd day of April. So happy you are here, both of you!

Did you have a good weekend? We had a great weekend, starting Saturday morning. I mean there was nothing wrong with Friday, but Saturday we had a full day.

Kent needed a few yard supplies so we ran down to Lowe's and saw this on our way...
A field full of goats. Like 100's of goats. We'd seen them earlier in the week in another field on the same road. How on Earth you get that many goats in a field on a major road is beyond me. To make it even more strange in a field on the other side of the same road next to the Lowe's parking lot was this...

ANOTHER field of goats. Kent noticed the first field were all males and this field were all females.

People were pulling in the parking lot and getting out of their cars to look at them.

They didn't make a peep and were incredibly tame.

We popped in Lowe's to grab the things we needed.

I Love all the beautiful colors that come with fresh spring flowers.

And I have developed such a love for succulents.

They are so perfect they look artificial and come in such a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. I'm thinking I should give them a try and see if I can keep them alive. I think they are very low maintenance so maybe they'd be able to survive the "plant curse" that seems to accompany house plants at our house.

If by some strange luck of the draw my kids are reading this today, which I highly doubt, I apologize for this next sentence. Kent said more than once on Saturday that the whole empty nest thing really wasn't so bad. LOL

We just come and go as we please. Eat whenever we want and do whatever we want. Saturday we finished up the things we were working on and I'd already bought tickets to go see Beauty and the Beast so we went to an early dinner, ran a couple of errand and then off the to movies. I'd bought the tickets for one of those theaters with reclining chairs for seating and let me just be the first to say that we are totally spoiled. Once you watch a movie this way, you never want to go back slumming in a regular old theater.

If you haven't seen this movie...GO...Don't wait any longer. It's that good, especially if you are musical kind of person and/or watched the Disney version with your kids when they were little. You'll have all the sweet, warm, fuzzy feelings. The singing is fantastic and that was the worst part because I wanted to sing along but I really didn't want to have people throwing popcorn at me and yelling "boooo, get out of here". Emma Watson does such a great job so if you're a fan of hers you won't be disappointed. So to sum it up, GO. Don't wait any longer.

Sunday afternoon I made another batch of bran muffins. I've been working on this recipe that a friend/next door neighbor in Richmond gave me eons ago. (Thanks Brandi) I'm doing some substituting to add protein and reduce the calories. I'm getting close and as soon as I get it where I want it, I can't wait to share it with you.

I did some online shoe shopping at Target Sunday afternoon. This week they are having BOGO (Buy one, get one 1/2 off) on shoes, so you might want to check it out. They are hitting out of the park this spring with their shoe selection.

I tried to order these darling hot pink heels but they were sold out of my size. They also come in a tan that are really cute.

And update on the new pair I bought last week.

I wore these Sunday. They were really comfortable and I was really tall. Several people commented at church on how tall I was. FYI...I prefer being short. It's weird to be tall after spending your entire life being short.

So today the countdown begins. We leave Thursday to go see the kids. Can you say EXCITED?!?!?!

Happy Monday friends!
