What I Wore Wednesday #4

Good morning and Happy Wednesday. My goodness this week is flying by. I guess all the catching up I'm doing from being out of town is making time seem to pass quickly.

Last night I attended a virtual event for Rodan + Fields and the launch of an extremely exciting new product. After hearing all the benefits of this Active Hydration Serum I literally can't wait to get my hands on it. I don't think there's a single woman (or man for that matter) who couldn't benefit from it. I'll talk more about it in another post. It won't be available to the public for a couple of weeks, but please contact me with any questions and I'll be more than happy to answer them.

Today I'm sharing a few items from Old Navy and shoes from Target. You'll want to be sure to come back tomorrow for Ladies Who Link as we share some of our favorite Target finds.

I bought this combo thinking I might wear it for Easter but it ended up being chilly and rainy so I went a different way.

This little floral top is going to be great this spring and summer on its own and for layering. It's really light weight and slightly fuller at the bottom with a cute keyhole button closure at the back neck.

The white pants are the Pixie pants from Old Navy that come in a lot of colorful options. They have a lot of stretch and are really comfortable with a very reasonable price point. And you know Old Navy has some kind of sale every single day making them a great go to store for basics and trendy pieces.

I had been looking for a pair of sandals like these for a long time and had previously purchased a pair that I had to return after wearing once because they cut my toes. OUCH!

These fit my narrow feet well and come in three colors. I bought the black and the tan. They do have a higher heel (4") but I don't plan on walking any races when I'm wearing them so I can deal with that.

I added my favorite jean jacket since I never leave the house without a jacket if I have on a sleeveless top. You know how every store and restaurant you go in is always cold and I can't stand to be cold. This jacket is truly the most comfortable jean jacket I've ever worn. The denim is super light weight, soft and slightly stretchy. It's an investment piece in my book, but worth it.

Thanks for making time to stop by and see what's going on with me. I'd love for you to subscribe at the bottom or the top right so you can receive posts in your inbox and follow me on Facebook.
I'm really trying to grow my audience to afford me more opportunities to work with companies that might interest you.

Happy hump day friends!

10 Favorite Phone Apps

Remember back in the day when you actually talked on the phone connected to the wall in your house for hours? Okay, some of you youngin's may not remember that, but that was a huge part of my teenage years. I can so vividly remember lying across my bed or sitting in my window seat talking on the phone to my friends and boyfriend for HOURS.

Here's the progression of phones we had in my house growing up that I can remember

And for the record, YES, we still have a land line. Kent would love to get rid of it, but I actually hate talking on my cell phone. I always feel like you can't hear and that I'm talking over the person on the other end.

That brings us to today and most of my people have one of these attached to their hand most of the time.

There are hundreds of Apps available for phones and I'm going to share my TOP 10, in no particular order.

CARTWHEEL

If you aren't familiar with this app and you are a Target shopper you are leaving money in the store. It's supper easy to use and the savings add up. I downloaded it when we were moving Benny in the dorm in August of 2013. Since then it's saved me $496.64.  The key is remembering to check and see what offers are available and/or scanning the items in your cart to see if savings are available. Once you get in the habit it comes second nature.
 FACEBOOK

I'd be really surprised if most people don't have this on their phones. It's a great time filler when you sitting around waiting and also a great way to keep up with friends or run a "virtual business" like I do for my Rodan + Fields.

INSTAGRAM

This is another one that I think a lot of people have and is perfect for sharing pictures with family and friends. It's also another platform for business's run virtually or in brick and mortar form.
Feel free to follow me on Instagram at Coasttocoast2

LIFE360

This app is in my opinion a must have for parents of teens. We make it mandatory that our kids have it on their phones (as long as we are paying the bill😉). It shows you their location. I tell my kids it's a safety net and that's how I really view it. When our kids lived at home and were first driving we had an agreement that they would let us know when they were coming and going from places. An app like this allows you to make sure they've gotten where they were going should they forget to notify you. Some people may feel it's "stalkerish", and that's fine, but if you've ever lost someone to a car accident, particuarly a teen who didn't show up where they were supposed to be, an app like this gives you an idea of where to start looking. It's not a pleasant thought, but our family has lived this. (not with my kids, but my cousin)

MAP MY WALK

I love this app when I'm out walking because I'm usually trying to go a certain distance. It tracks how far you've gone and tells you at each mile. It also tells you your pace and if you happen to be competitive with yourself like I am then you'll love this feature. The app also approximates the calories burned, but honestly I'm not so sure how accurate that feature is.

PICSTITCH

I use this app for making picture collages to share on social media. This one is really easy to whip out a collage to share on Facebook, Instagram or even a blog.

SHOPKICK

I introduced some of you to the Shopkick app in a previous post here. This is another app that's easy to use and just a matter of remembering to check and see what stores have kicks available or scans to earn kicks.

You "open" the app when you walk into certain stores and then receive "kicks" (aka points). Once you accumulate enough points they can be redeemed for gift cards. You can also get points by scanning items in various stores. You should really check it out. I've already gotten a $25 gift card to TJ Maxx and I'm currently working towards a $250 Tory Burch gift card. That will make for an awesome SPLURGE!!!

I need 62,500 kicks and I currently have 30,329. It's going to take a while, but I'll get there. You can get kicks for inviting friends, so if you're interested in trying it out please feel free to use my referral link and help me get there even faster.

SNAPCHAT

Snapchat would be at the top of the list if I was ranking them. I love it for keeping in touch with my kids. Katie and I "snap" everyday. It's great! Benny's even getting better about sending me occasional snaps. I also have several friends local and who live far away and it's a wonderful way to stay connected with them.

You can friend me if you like. My name is AQUAMOM and I'm trying to get better at putting things on my story.

SAFEWAY

I think most grocery stores now have savings apps and they are a great way to see what's on sale and stock up. The truth is that I only buy things 99% at Safeway that are on sale. You can save a lot of money just by checking weekly and stocking up on items you know you and your family will use.

PINTEREST

I really doubt I need to tell you what this one is about. I love having it on my phone so I can see my pins when I'm out shopping, be it for groceries, fashion, or crafting ideas.

This is of course not all the apps I have, just my favorites. Do you have all of these apps on your phone? Do you have some I should check out? Please share in the comments. I'm always looking for things to make life easier.

Easter Weekend Wrap Up

Back to reality after being gone for a week and half. I always return with mixed emotions. Ready to get home and sad to leave at the same time.

I hope your Easter was filled with family, friends, food, egg hunts and you paused to take time to remember the reason we celebrate Easter.

This was our first Easter with no kids at home so it was really different and strange. The weather was overcast and rainy so it didn't make for a very "Eastery" day. Kent and I came home and just had a little lunch and then curled up on the sofa and watched TV and took a nap. You do know Sunday afternoons are made for napping, right? While we don't routinely do that, it's nice every once in a while to just relax.

Before I left Nashville, Friday night I cooked dinner for the kids and we had an early birthday celebration for Benny and Isabel. They will both have birthdays at the end of the month. Isabel is the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (the friends I stay with).

 Paul loves a good photobomb.

Katie went home Saturday morning with her friend Ross and had a big time doing lots of fun things. She said she had a lot of firsts. Riding a four wheeler, learning to canoe and shoot a gun.

Loft is having a great sale through today.
50% off EVERYTHING and FREE shipping with no minimum.

I took advantage of this sale yesterday and ordered a few things to try.

One of my favorite shirts is a popover I bought earlier this season from Loft by Lou & Grey. This one is very similar so I ordered it. Lou & Grey tends to run big so I size down in their clothing.

I ordered these pants in white. I love the Julie fit pants from Loft. If you are curvier they fit really well. I have quite a few pairs of them and would definitely say they are my go to when I want a dressier pair of pants.

Still on the hunt for the right pair of white jeans I ordered two pairs. Both are the curvy cut. I'm hopeful they will be a little more forgiving than the standard modern cut.

I'm also on the hunt for a new dress to wear to Benny's graduation in a few weeks and thought this little lace number might do the trick. I've ordered some hot pink heels that will look great with it so let's all cross our fingers that this is the one.

Be sure you check out this sale. It's very rare that Loft offers free shipping with no minimum and 50% off with no exclusions.

Now it's time for me to get to work and get caught up on all the things I missed while I was gone.

Have a great week friends!!

Friday Favorites #53

I'm probably the only person on the planet who wishes Friday hadn't shown up quite so quickly this week. That means tomorrow is Saturday and time for me to leave. While I'm ready to go home and see Kent, I've loved being in Nashville and spending time with my kids and friends.

Let's get right to what made the favorites for this week.

~one~

I helped Katie make a tie-quilt for her roommates birthday. Hayley LOVES Disney princesses so we found some really cute princess fabric and a coordinating backing and went to work. It turned out adorable and Hayley LOVED it!!!

~two~

Having dinner with some of my favorite girls.

~three~

Doing some cute boutique shopping and apparently I have a flower crush. I wanted to take so many gorgeous arrangements home with me. That's the one of the hardest parts when I'm visiting and shopping. I just don't have a way to take much home. (you're welcome Kent)

~four~

 Carla, Erin & myself

Carla, Erin and I grew up together in Richmond from the time we were little girls. We all went to the same college and Erin and I were roommates our freshman year and half of our sophomore year. Carla and I hadn't seen Erin in well over a decade and had a great time having lunch and catching up on each other lives. Hopefully this time we will manage to get together sooner, rather than later.

~five~

I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon than sitting outside, on the porch, enjoying a gorgeous afternoon with some of my favorite people.

~six~

The Easter Bunny came while I was here and found these three. You're never too old for an Easter Basket.

Tonight I'm cooking dinner for all of us. I love being able to cook for my friends and kids when I'm in town.

Have a great weekend and beautiful Easter!
