Friday Favorites #65

Fri-yay!!!
Who else has been discombobulated this week. (are you still sounding that out😉?) Having a day off in the middle of the week made me confused all week long. Our first round of company left yesterday and the next group gets here Sunday. We love having a house full of friends and all the fun that comes with them.

Time to see what made the Friday Favorites for this week and link up with a bunch of blogger buddies at the bottom of the post.

Friday Funny...

If you know me, then you know this is pretty much dead on.

Popped into Starbucks to see our girl hard at work. Just look at the concentration.

"Stop it, Mom"

We grabbed a couple of treats and headed to Target. Not to worry. I only drank a little of my yummy drink and then let Kent have the rest and trust me, that took some real will power because it was
de-licious. #FWTFL

I don't think it matters how old you are. If you loved to swing as a child, you love to swing as an adult. We took our little friends to the park and had just as much fun as they did.

One of my friends is in charge of the children's ministry at our church. We needed a bulletin board in the hall and I volunteered to decorate it. I think it turned out so cute. It's old school, but I like old school.

Little Ms. Harper liked wearing ALL THE HATS! She was a hoot!!!

It's that time of year again. Time for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This is the very sale that made me a Nordstrom convert 2 years ago. If you are a Nordstrom card holder you get early access to the sale a week before the general public and trust me, things sell out fast. It's an opportunity to grab up some great fall fashions at discounted prices. It's hard to think about fall and winter when it's 90 some degrees outside, but you've got to strike while the iron is hot. (see what I did there?😉) If you want to apply for a Nordstrom card click here. Being a card holder comes with other perks too. Free alterations, advance notice of sales and occasional triple points days.

Next week I'll have a post with some of the things I'm eyeing from the sale catalog which only has a fraction of the items that will be included in the sale.

Here are the posts from this week if you missed them.

Have a great weekend friends!

Blush Top & White Jeans

So my go to uniform this summer always involves some form of denim or white jeans. Thankfully living in the area we do, I can wear jeans/pants most of the time without being too hot.

I recently decided after seeing every other blogger in the blogosphere wearing this handkerchief hem top I'd better give it a shot.

If I was a shorts wearin' kinda gal, I'd pair this with white jean shorts or denim shorts. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of shorts because I don't love my legs.

I decided to put it with my new favorite white frayed hem jeans and wedges.

I love the weight of the top and the versatility as far as seasons go. It could be worn most days with the exception of super hot or cold and it comes in 6 gorgeous colors. Even at full price it's a good deal.

I ordered it in hot pink too, but I'm not the only person that color enticed, because it's on backorder.

So I'm totally thrown off now by having a day off in the middle of the week and totally confused about what day it is.

Happy Thursday?

Celebrating Like A Child

Good morning friends! Did you have fun celebrating our country's birthday? We sure did. Good food, fun with friends and little kids to entertain us for hours.

Here's a little peak at our festivities.

Harper loved all the July 4th accessories and kept them on all night, but as the night progressed her look digressed. It was comical.

Mel's Patriotic Chocolate Chip Cookies from The Larson Lingo...they were a huge hit and I had waaaay more than I should have. Back to #FWTFL today. Katie and I did our workout yesterday but decided in all fairness to our country we should really celebrate the occasion.
#werationalized

Key Lime pie made with Key Limes from our very own tree.

Katie got in on the festivities after she got off of work.

These are our sweet friends who have been visiting from Hawaii and staying with us. We call Ella and Harper our practice grand-babies. Little children sure make celebrating holidays more fun.

Hope your day was full of friends, family, fun and food.

Red & White Striped Dress for the 4th Of July

Happy 4th of July!!!

July snuck in over the weekend, and today it's going to make a BANG!!! Are you ready? Do you have a cute, patriotic outfit all picked out to wear as you celebrate? I'm mean after all, even if it's 1,000 degrees you still want to look cute while your sweating. (just in case you happen to be celebrating on the surface of the sun)

I've told y'all before that it's pretty windy where we live a lot of the time and it's super challenging to get a picture without the wind blown look. I picked up this super comfy swing dress at Old Navy a couple of weeks ago. The red and white is only available in limited sizing now, but it comes in 8 other options and currently on sale for $12.Without a doubt it is the perfect little summer dress.

I tied my favorite denim jacket around my waist for a little definition and because I always keep a jacket with me for restaurants, etc.. This Kut from the Kloth jacket is the softest denim and a perfect weight. It's a little pricier for a "jean jacket" but I love it. If you are looking for one but not ready to invest as much there is one by the same maker currently on sale for 40% off.

I decided my Converse would be the perfect shoes for a really casual look, but it would be equally as cute with a cute pair of sandals. I'd wear my leopard sandals for a little less casual look.

Time to get to work on a few sweet treats for a cookout we're having tonight.

Have a wonderful, safe day celebrating.

Answer These Questions

Sometimes it's just so hard to figure out what to post about, but not today. I actually had a fashion post all cued up this morning and ready to go for the 4th of July and then remembered this fun prompt from the girls over at The Blended Blog. So come back tomorrow and see what you'll likely find me wearing for our July 4th celebrating, but for today read on and find out what my answers are to these questions.

Inquiring minds want to know...

1. Favorite animal - Giraffe
2. Wine or Beer - Neither
3. Socks on/off while sleeping - OFF...hello hot flashes
4. One piece or two piece swimsuit - Two piece in the form of a tankini. I can't stand trying to pull down a wet suit when nature calls.
5. Cooking at home or eating out - Both. I love to cook and we love to eat out...especially now that we are usually empty nesters.

6. Pepsi or Coke - Diet Pepsi from a fountain with pellet ice (how's that for detailed)
7.  Regular or electric toothpaste - regular
8. Candy or chocolate - CHOCOLATE🍫. If there was ever a chocoholic on this planet, it's this girl
9. Coffee or Tea - Hot coffee, iced tea
10. Music or talk radio - Music🎤. Country or Pop

11. Chic Flick, Action movie, or Documentary - Always a Chic Flick. (my poor husband)
12. Regular or mechanical pencil - mechanical
13. Swimming or laying out - I love to lay out and preferably by a pool with a good "summer read".
14. Dog or cat - Dog, but we are an animal free home.
15. What do you drive? - A Chevy Traverse. I like a bigger vehicle that I sit up high in.

16. Early Bird or Night Owl? I'm an early bird for sure. Even on the weekend you'll find me up enjoying the quiet of the morning all.by.myself.
17. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life....refer to #8
18. While sleeping you'll find my phone on my beside table on vibrate. With 2 kids not living in the same city (most of the time) I want it right by me in case they need me.
19. Singing in the shower - You just might find me quietly belting (like that even makes sense) out a tune every once in while in the shower, but more likely I'm talking to myself like a crazy person.
20. Oreo cookies must always be taken apart and eaten as 3 individual treats starting with the creamy center. #everyoneknowsthat😉

So now you know what makes me tick. How about you? Feel free to answer an or all of these questions in the comments so I can find out more about you.

Happy Monday friends!
