Weekend Wrap Up

Hey y'all!!!! Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I think by now summer is in full swing for everyone. Can you believe we are in the last week of JUNE??? I am kind of in denial. The next 4 weeks we have so many fun things on our calendar and I just don't want it to be over. We have 3 different bouts of company between now and the end of July.

I mentioned last week that I had attended 2 funerals in a week. Thursday I wore this t-shirt dress. It was steamin' hot out and this was perfect for looking appropriate and staying cool and comfortable.

I bought this dress last year at Gap and they have a very similar v-neck this year. Honestly, I love a v-neck so I think I'd really love this years, but Old Navy has this one that looks identical. I added my lace up block heel sandals and long necklace from Kendra Scott to bring it all together and dress it up a bit. You could just as easily throw on a pair of Converse with this for a casual look and even wrap a jacket or plaid shirt around your waist for a sporty look.

Okay, so y'all know I've mentioned a couple of times that I've been doing a clean eating and workout program. I'm in week 5 of 7 and feeling great.  I imagine your thinking a Nothing Bundt Cake doesn't seem like it would exactly fit the mold for "clean eating". Well on Saturdays we have a killer leg workout (as in we walk so slowly the rest of the day) and are allowed to build a treat into our calories. For the last 3 Saturdays, we workout, eat lunch, shower and head straight for the Nothing Bundt Cake store for one of these delicious little treats. We've been getting the lemon because it's the least offensive calorie wise, but it does not lack for delightful taste. If you have a Nothing Bundt Cake bakery near you and have yet to visit it, get in there. You.are.missing.out! ANNNND...they have free samples. Oh yes!

And because we are just so wild and crazy our Saturday night included a cruise around Target. Target is more fun when this silly girl is along.

Benny never ceases to amaze me. We talked to him Saturday and he said he was going to prep his lunches for the week and then yesterday I got this Snapchat. Are you impressed or what? I sure was! I'm here to tell you that looking at this picture just made me smile. My baby boy is now a grown man, working and doing "food prep" for his own lunches. This mama's heart is full and proud.
Edit: I'm getting questions about the boxes he's using. You can order them HERE and HERE.

Having now sung his praises I can also tell you that when he was younger and I would clean their bathroom I'd think about my friend that is the mother of 3 boys and how thankful I was that I only had one who for some strange reason couldn't quite hit the toilet. Boys will be boys. When I saw this meme I couldn't help but chuckle. I've since made a friend with 4 boys and Stephanie, if you are reading this, I can't begin to imagine cleaning all those boy bathrooms. ;)

So there are the highlights from the Richardson's weekend. What's on your agenda for this week?

Friday Favorites #63

Welcome back Friday and welcome to another round of Friday Favorites. So here's what happens. Pretty much every week I go through and see what kind of pictures I've taken and then figure out what my favorites are for the week. Sometimes I even think to make a note or two during the week. Some weeks it comes easily and some weeks, not so much.

I'm linking up with quite a few blogger buddies to share. It's a great way to find new blogs and be found.

Let's get started with a Friday funny.

Seriously people? LOL!

Adding touches of red, white and blue to the house to get ready for the 4th of July.

Target is continuing to keep the dollar spot stocked with lots of red, white & blue, so it's not too late to get some patriotic bargains and they have lots of cute things for the little firecrackers in your house.

We are all loving Kent's Father's Day present. Our new friend "Alexa" is super handy and she's oh so smart. She can tell you a joke, answer questions, play your favorite songs and on and on.

Earlier this week I shared my love for this hair product. It's been around for a while, but is new to me and I love it.

Our little friend Ella was at our house one night and I looked over and she was gently placing her hand right into Benny's hand print from when he was just a little older than her. It was so sweet. This little ceramic hand-print plaque is definitely an all time favorite.

Yesterday Rodan + Fields brought back a previous popular special. Buy any one of our four regimens and Lash Boost and get 20% off BOTH

Still need more incentive? Purchase as a Preferred Customer and receive and additional 10% off. That's an even better deal than I get.

Wednesday Night Concert With My Girl

Hey y'all! Are you ready to finish the week strong? We're almost to Friday and another weekend. I think it's going to be a hot one. Oh how I wish we had access to a pool. Oh well, eventually, right?

Last night Katie and I went to the Alameda County fair to see Jana Kramer. (I know I already told you we were going to). If you haven't already binge watched One Tree Hill and you like to spend some quality time with Netflix, you should consider it. Jana comes on the last few seasons. She's so stinkin' pretty and tiny and talented to boot. The whole package it would appear. Fun story. My brothers best friend from high school is married and lives in Nashville where Jana lives. Well his wife and Jana are good buddies. How cool is that?

She performs a great show and seems like the most genuine person. She includes people of all ages and interacts with the crowd.

She had this little guy up on stage and he truly did not crack a smile the entire time.

We got to the fairgrounds and went straight to the amphitheater to get decent seats. (which we did pretty well) It was too hot to think about doing anything else there.

Katie and I both agreed we wanted our legs to look like Jana's.

This was the first time we'd gone to a concert and we make pretty good concert buddies it I do say so myself.

Now onto a new shirt.

I just adore these empire waist tees made by Free People. Both Macy's and Nordstrom carry them. I ordered the white one and the green one and they are both so cute and comfy. Here's the problem. I have narrow shoulders anyway and these are made with a very generous neckline.

They wanted to fit me like this and I just think I'm a little past the "Flash dance" stage in my life so I ended up returning them. I'd say if you are looking for a tee with some personality and are maybe a little younger you should absolutely go for it. These would be perfect.

So what's on your agenda for today. I am going to attend a memorial service for a sweet lady's husband who's in my bible study. Not necessarily a happy thing to do, but a good way to support her and show her we love her. (some other friends are going too)

Hope you have a great day! See back here tomorrow for another round of Friday Favorites.

Favorite Hair Product

Well here we are and another Wednesday has found us. I've been thinking lately I really needed to share with y'all my latest favorite hair product. You know how when you find something you like you just want to share it with all your friends? Well, that's what I'm going to do. Share it with y'all.

Even with all the chemical treatments I used to get on my hair I've never had as much trouble with dry, damaged ends as I have since moving to California. I talked with my hairdresser and she encouraged me to get a new flat iron. Sometimes when they are about ready to go on the fritz they will begin to overheat and damage your hair. I also bought several products she recommended to help combat the issue.

Even after using the new straightener for a while and all of the protective products, my hair was still being damaged right around my face. I started thinking maybe it was the water here and all the chemicals in it and I think I'm right. I've talked with several people who have experienced the same thing. So I was still on a quest for something to help me remedy the problem. I'd seen the "it's a 10" spray and heard good things about it but had never tried it.

When we were in Nashville on one of our recent trips my friend had some and I tried it. I loved the way it made my hair feel, so as soon as I got home I bought a bottle.

Well what do you know? I recently realized the damaged hair around my face was gone. Honestly I'm still kind of amazed by it. Needless to say I'm a believer and if you open under my bathroom sink you'll be finding a cute blue bottle of this miracle leave-in product...just like the bottle says.

Have you tried this stuff? Do you have a favorite hair product I need to know about? I'd love for you to share in the comments. After all, we're all looking for the best things out there.

Happy Wednesday!

Black Bell Sleeve Tee & Jeans

Good morning friends! It's supposed to be another scorcher here today. Actually the rest of the week is looking like it's going to be that way. Katie and I went out last week and took these pictures. I'll tell ya', it's so windy around here that it makes it really challenging to get pictures where my hair isn't going every which way.

  TEE // JEANS // WEDGES // PURSE

I ordered this ruffle sleeve tee weeks ago and now that I've finally gotten around to sharing it, it's  sold out. Boooo! Luckily it's available in a tie front version that's basically the same and comes in 7 other colors and patterns. Yippee! It goes without saying that I'm a real sucker for a cute detail like a ruffled sleeve to up the cute factor on a basic piece like a t-shirt.

I'm carrying my Michael Kors saddle colored purse. I love the structure and size of this bag. You can find a similar one here or this striped option would be so cute for summer.

This little tee is one of the softest shirts I've ever purchased. It's the same maker as my the bell sleeve top I shared with you here. This brand is one of my go-to's for quality and comfort. I paired it with a couple of other closet favorites of mine. Distressed jeans and wedges. If you haven't yet purchased a good pair of wedges for the summer I highly recommend these. You get the look and height of a heel without the discomfort. These are surprisingly easy to walk in and comfortable.

 TEE // JEANS // WEDGES // PURSE

What are your plans today? We are meeting our friends that are visiting a big splash pad to let the littles play. I bet between the water play and heat they'll be ready for some good naps this afternoon.

Happy Tuesday!

Weekend Wrap Up - Father's Day Edition

Good Monday morning! I hope you had a great weekend. We did and we were super busy. Rather than boring you with all the details I'll share an abbreviated version and hit the highlights. I started off my weekend by going to get my annual mammogram.

Happy to have that marked off my list. ✔️

Friday night we picked up another friend at the airport who's coming to visit.  They are spending the first part of their visit at another friends and then coming to stay with us. These little girlies are just so stinkin' cute. Little ones today know all about the selfie and are all too happy to make silly faces to send on Snapchat.

We celebrated Father's Day all weekend.

Truer words never spoken.

I adore this picture of my dad when he was a little boy.

He grew up to be the most wonderful man and is the best father a girl could ask for. God blessed me beyond measure when he gave me to my parents. Thank you Mom and Dad for all you do and who you are. I love you more than you'll ever know.

We missed having Benny around for our Father's Day celebration, but were lucky to have Katie at home. We managed to surprise Kent with a couple of gifts.  Our friends have and echo and he's quite intrigued with it so we got him one.

Last week it was on sale so I got lucky. I'd say if you watch it will be again or you can always use a coupon at Macy's and save a little.

We've been having a real heat wave. Yesterday we were out running around and the car thermometer got up to 107 degrees. Thankfully it's not humid, but I'm here to tell that even with no humidity, 107 is HOT and it's going to continue being in the upper 90's and hitting triple digits all week. Thank heavens for good A/C!

Have a great week friends.
