Hello Monday and hello friends! Did you manage to stay warm this weekend? I think we are in one of the few warm pockets in the US right now. We keep tabs on different places in the country where we have family and it's been frigid everywhere.
You may not be familiar with The Blended Blog and just what it is, but it's exactly what it sounds like. It's a collaboration of lifestyle bloggers all coming together. What a fun idea! Some of these bloggers are some of my best blogging friends. Friends I've never met. It's the craziest thing. I talk about these women like I'm with them all the time.
Each month they have a set of questions/prompts to help us share and learn more about each other. It's fun to find out just what we all have in common. Today is the day for the January edition.
NEW YEAR, NEW YOU
1. Resolutions or No Resolutions?
No resolutions for this girl.
2. Love snow or No Snow?
Spending 3 winters in Minnesota can kill your love for snow...at least for a little while. Now that we've been in California for 4 winters I think I could actually embrace some snow. I occassionaly find myself missing the excitement of a snowfall when I hear about it from friends.
(this was our house in MN)
3. Name a New Place you want to go this year?
We are planning to take a trip every spring with our friends Paul and Elizabeth. This year we have Savannah and Charleston as possibilities, but I sure wouldn't be opposed to visiting another Hawaiian island. {wink, wink}
4. Would you rather have a new Hair cut or Hair color?
Hmmm....that's a hard one, but probably a cut. It always feels so much lighter and softer. I'm actually in need of a haircut right now.
5. Name one special thing you want to do for yourself this year?
I think I'd have to say being less critical of myself and not comparing myself to other women. This is such a nasty habit and one I'd personally like to kick to the curb.
6. Least Favorite thing about January?
The let down after the holidays.
7. Most Favorite thing about January?
A fresh start.
8. When do you take down your Holiday decorations?
Sometime during the week between Christmas and New Year's. I'm usually ready to "reclaim" my space and de-glitter. LOL
9. Do you diet in January?
No, I'm more of a watch what you eat kind of person all the time. Having said that, the older I get the harder it becomes to keep those pesky pounds off and the more I'm having to cut back. Pretty soon I'll just be eating ice and drinking water. HA!
10. What area of your home do you want to organize the most?
I try to keep all areas pretty organized, but some of the closets and cabinets could definitely do with a good touch up.
11. Favorite Winter Comfort Food?
The first thing that popped into my head was pancakes, so let's just go with that. Breakfast for dinner is a favorite for sure.
12. Favorite Guilty Pleasure
I think having my nails done could fall into this category. I hate trying to keep them polished so I end up keeping them dipped (now) or having some other form of pink and white acrylics done. I hate to spend the money, but I just really feel better when they are done.
Here's to a great 2018 friends.

Oh Lisa, I'm sure in No 9 you're referring to those scrumptious ice cream sundaes you tempt us with. I'll have what you're having! Hugs, x.
ReplyDeleteMary, You make me chuckle. Good thing we only get those when we go into the city because that means we usually end up walking A LOT of miles so we can justify the insane amount of calories. Happy Monday!!! XO
DeleteWhoa! That is dome SNOW, Sister!! I love having my hair and nails done, too! That's usually my "me" time, but it never fails that the fam starts blowing up my phone when I sit down in the chair!! Enjoy your mild winter, Girlie!!
ReplyDeleteTurn that phone over and put it on silence...or leave it in your purse. You are entitled to an hour of pure, unadulterated me time.😉 Yep, we've experienced it all and I'm really glad. We can relate to so many people because of it. Have a great day!
DeleteThat snow looks like Indiana at times, love your MN house! Yep, a fellow doing life without resolutions girl, just focused and enjoying! Love the meme! Love you more. Oooh do hope you get a fun, fun couples trip!
ReplyDeleteTwo peas in a pod sweet friend! How's mama's hand BTW? Hope you are both doing much better from your little holiday escapades. ❤️
DeleteHappy Monday lady !!! Love your answer to # 11 ! I love pancakes and BACON, yes I could eat pancakes and bacon for breakfast or dinner. I really never come up with New Year's Resolutions ! For me it's a waste of time. Hoping that you are having a fabulous day my friend !
ReplyDeleteHi Tammy!! We have so much in common. I love it. How's the new purse? Are you loving it? I hope so. Have a beautiful week, beautiful friend! XOXO
DeleteThe purse is fabulous ! I'll send you a photo via Instagram !!! I've hesitated to share photos because I'm a bit embarrassed that I spent so much money on myself.
DeleteMan that is a lot of snow! Crazy that you used to get that much! Thanks for sharing! :) Love getting to know you better.
ReplyDeleteIt sure was Kasey! Oh the tales we have to tell after living there. Have a fabulous week and thanks for stopping by and commenting. Stay warm...y'all have been really getting zapped! XOXO
DeleteWarm pancakes sound so good right now! I actually had some at IHOP over the weekend, they were more of a dessert tho, given that they were confetti cake pancakes! LOL! It must be so different to live in CA over the winter now. :) A yearly Spring trip with friends sounds so fun!

If only pancakes weren't loaded with carbs. I want to try some made just with bannana and egg...not sure how they'll be😬 Living in CA you get really spoiled weather wise.
DeleteI hear you about the snow. I grew up in Conn., lived in California, Florida,Chicago, Dallas, Houston and now I'm in Mass. and hating every snowfall. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful for a few days, but then it needs to leave. Hang in there! Happy Tuesday!
DeleteThat's what my yard looks like right now! Though we are getting freezing rain so it will look all shiny tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteOh no...the freezing rain is the worst. So dangerous. Be safe and Happy Tuesday!!!
DeleteOh wow, I love the picture of your previous home, I want to live there!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to really watch how much I talk about blog friends with IRL friends because they look at me like I'm crazy. Yes, we have never met but yes, these ladies know me!!!
The quote - comparison is the thief of joy - has been written on my mirror in the past to remind me to stop doing that. It is so hard and I think we're conditioned from an early age to do it.
I was thinking of getting my nails dipped - how is it different than gel? Does it last longer and wear well? I had a gel manicure before Christmas and it lasted less than 2 weeks. I may have to try dipping.
Ok, my friend, I loved reading your answers!!!
Love ya friend!
xo,
Kellyann
That was my favorite house. I just loved it and was so sad to leave it. Get your nails dipped!!!! The girl talked me into it when we were going to Hawaii and I've been doing them that way ever since (which is really only 3 or 4 times). It's a crazy process where she paints on a base coat about 1/2 way up and then dips in a clear/white powder. Then she paints a little further up and dips in the color. She was just doing 2 coats of color on mine and I loved how thin they looked, but I kept cracking them. This time she dipped 3 times in the color and so far no cracks. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow. They wear so much better than gel. They don't peel AT ALL and I think they remove easier than gel. They are removed the same way. I always go at least 3 weeks and try to make it 4 between times. The dip is more expensive (I pay $45) than gel, but worth it. Thinking of you and your new adventure today. The necklace looks great with the dress!!! XOXO
DeleteThese are always such fun questions to read the answers for. We grew up in Northern Iowa so I know about those cold snowy winters! Minnesota is on my list of never-evers because of winter! Random question but I wonder where your favorite place is that you have lived?
ReplyDeleteI have to laugh. We say Minnesota was at the bottom of the list of anyplace we ever thought we'd live and California was under that. What a crazy life. Richmond is what I'd consider the perfect city. It's.got.everything. It's not too big, but not too small either. Every time we go back I love it more. Having said that, my favorite place is Nashville. You know I talk about it all the time and visit as much as possible. I lived there for 5 years when I was in college and of course now the kids are there. Our plan is to retire there. (I'm hoping no more than 5 years, but we shall see). I'm not sure if I love Nashville because of the city or because so many of my people are there. All of my best friends live in that area. I'm dying to find out what your plans are. Very exciting!
DeleteI love to have my nails done too! I also feel a little guilty but hey...you only live once and you should feel nice doing it. :)
ReplyDeleteYes ma'am! I try to make them last as long as possible to cut down on the guilt😉. Have a great day!
DeleteLove.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
DeleteA beautiful home and beautiful snow, but.......it sure does look cold! Oh, you will absolutely LOVE Charleston. We want to go back but Savannah was way over rated as far as we were concerned but we can at least say we've been.:o)) Oh, love having my nail done and love my nail tech and she calls me her American Mom. You are so right about age making it harder to keep those pounds at bay. Ugh, I've never had a weight issue but I have to be soooo aware the past few years. Happy new week!
ReplyDeleteI keep whittling things out of my diet...so depressing. Happy Tuesday! XO
DeleteCharleston is my favorite US city - it's just so perfect! Your nails look amazing - wish mine would grow that long! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteWe went to Charleston for 1 day when I was newly pregnant with our first child and not feeling great. I'd love to spend some more time there. I get my nails cut pretty short when they are being done and they grow with the added protection on them. Maybe that would help yours? Happy Tuesday!
DeleteBreakfast for dinner is my favorite! It's super easy and so good. My little girls love it too! Win for mama when I make it! How fun to do a friends trip every spring? That sounds like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mylittlenest.org
Hi Ruth! I know, right?! My husband is always happy when I say we're having pancakes and he gets really excited if it happens to be french toast made with challah bread. YUM! Hope your week is off to a wonderful start!! XO
DeleteOne of my best friends lives in Minnesota, and she hates the snow. I've only visited her in the summer, and it is beautiful! Pancakes for dinner sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteBless her heart. If you hate snow, it's definitely not the place to be. The summers are beautiful though especially on the lakes. Hope you are having a great weekend! XO
DeleteI love having breakfast for dinner too! It's so much fun to sit down to pancakes as a family! We take our holiday decorations down before New Year's too, but that is mostly because we have a Christmas baby and have to get our house ready for her bday party that we usually throw the weekend after New Year's!
ReplyDeleteI would have loved to have had pancakes tonight, but I'm trying to be good for a while. UGH...calories😉 Having a Christmas time birthday makes that time of year even more hectic, I'm sure. Hope you are enjoying your weekend! XO
DeleteI sometimes make New Year's resolutions, but I've been super annoyed by the new year this year and definitely relate to your Someecard, haha! And I can see why living in MN killed your love of snow! Yikes! Living in PA has made me hate snow, and we get hardly anything compared to MN!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your super annoyed. I hope you'll get to feeling better about it.❤️ I'm finally after 4 winters away to the point where I'd actually enjoy being somewhere for a beautiful snow, but I definitely don't want to live in in for months on end like we did there. I hope you're having a great weekend, Jess! XOXO
