Friday Favorites - Party Mode and Other Things

Oh hey Friday! There you are!!!
I don't know about you, but I do love a 4 day week. Having said that...they also leave me confused as to what day it is for the rest of the week. Does anyone else feel this way?
#orjustme

We are in full party mode over here getting ready for a graduation celebration for Miss Katie and about 30 of her friends tomorrow. Since our house isn't really set up for this amount of teenage energy and we have a tiny backyard we are having it at the park a block away from our house in our neighborhood.

This means a lot of my favorites are party related. Now that I've prepped you let's get to Friday Favorites which is hosted by ErikaNarci and Andrea.

ONE

CUPCAKES!
What's a party without cupcakes?
I decided I wanted to use the "tulip cupcake liners" to give them a little more flair and I thought it would help make them easier to transport and protect the frosting.

I headed over to Amazon to see what they had and was all set to order some in white but the best deal was for TWO HUNDRED. When am I ever going to be making this many cupcakes? My days of birthday parties are pretty much gone, at least for a little while.
#grandbabies♥

I decided to hit my usual spots for things like this...TJ Maxx, Marshalls & Home Goods.
First stop was Home Goods and I hit the JACKPOT!!!

Our colors for the party are purple and yellow/gold, Katie's college colors.

Are these adorable or what?
I can't wait to fill them with cupcake yumminess.

TWO

We decided we should have some games at the park for the kids to play, so of course Corn hole was the first thing that came to mind.

We tried to find one to borrow but didn't have any luck, so I talked Kent into making one.
Getting directions was a breeze thanks to Pinterest so we headed off to Lowe's and came home with our supplies.

I whipped up some bags of "corn" in our theme colors.

And when Katie and I were at the Feed and Seed store getting the "feed corn" to fill the bags they had just gotten in a shipment of baby quail and chicks which brings us to favorite number three.

THREE

Who needs a petting zoo when you have the feed store?
As soon as we got to the car you know I was giving her a disinfectant wipe and saying "wipe your hands good and your phone".

FOUR

My friend Sarah has had a love affair with these dark chocolate covered mangoes for quite a while that come from Costco. Now the problem with things like this at Costco is that they'll appear, disappear and reappear, so you just kind of have to keep your eyes open. When I was in there yesterday I found them and couldn't resist.

This is the first bag I've bought, but OH. MY. WORD.
They are so YUMMY!!!
The perfect combination of fruit, chocolate, chewy goodness.

I had to send her a snapchat :)

FIVE

Here's a sneak peak at one more thing we are having along with the cupcakes at the party.
Did I forget to mention it's a DESSERT party?
#ohyeah

Denim and White

You can't go wrong with denim and white for summer.
It's a classic combination that never goes out of style.

Whenever I see a picture of someone wearing this combination I'm always impressed by the simple yet fresh look it gives. Whether you pair jean shorts and a basic white tee or jeans and a white blouse the look is timeless and clean.

I love this white tunic with the lace trim I purchased last year from Nordstrom. Unfortunately it's not available this year, but I did find some cute options to share with you.

Denim Options

I'm wearing my favorite Sam Edelman sandals that I wear all the time,  but any sandal, wedge, or flip flop can go with these options.

If you haven't been utilizing the basics in your closet maybe this will the inspiration you need.

Happy Wednesday friends!

Show and Tell Tuesday...My Tribe

MY TRIBE....

Andrea of Momfessionals hosts a twice a month link called "Show and Tell Tuesdays".

Today's topic is your tribe.

I'm am lucky to have a wonderful "tribe" walking beside me through life.

These girls (women) are the BEST! We've played together, traveled together, laughed together, been in each others weddings, been pregnant together, had babies together, raised children together, cried together and most recently gone through some pretty major health scares together.

These are the people I call/text when I have something funny to tell, something weird to ask, need advice or more importantly need prayers.

These are the women who no matter what life throws at you are there. Ready to go to battle for you and with you, ready to rejoice in the good and weep in the bad.

These girls have my heart and I couldn't be more blessed.

Some of them I've know almost my entire life and some are college friends and some are as recent as 10 years, but the bond is the same.

These girls are my forever friends.

Carla, Laura, Alicia
Julie, Me

Carla, Alicia and I have known each other since elementary school age and grew up in the same church. As a matter of fact, we were all baptized on the same day.
June 26, 1983
I'd have to say that's a pretty special bond.

Julie and Laura came into the picture in college and boy am I glad they did!

Julie, Laura and Carla all live in Nashville, so whenever I'm there (which becomes more and more frequent) we get together.

I LOVE THIS PICTURE!!!!

Yes, this happens A LOT when the 4 of us are together.

Julie, Me, Kim
Carla, Laura, Alicia

Alicia and I were together for years in Richmond raising kids together. Always spending the 4th of July together at the Science Museum watching fireworks and eating Krispy Kreme donuts. She and her husband and boys were always at our house along with our friends Jeff and Dawn for New Years Eve and of course we've done countless birthday parties together. Our sons even roomed together their freshman year of college.

Kim and I were roommates in college. Now our girls are starting in the fall at the same college together, living in the same dorm we did (not rooming together...yet) and seem to be becoming fast friends just like we did. This is so totally cool to watch and amusing too.

Dawn and Elizabeth are equally as special. The coolest part about these girls is they didn't even know each other, but because I love them both we end up spending time together and now they each have a new friend.♥♥♥

Elizabeth and I were pregnant with our second kids together and became fast friends in the 2 short years when they lived in Richmond. They moved away 16 years ago, but that didn't hamper our friendship. It's so special and just grows stronger with each passing year.

Elizabeth, Paul and their girls are some of our dearest friends and really the only people we have ever traveled with. We've taken lots of little vacations together and there has never been a shortage of fun when we are all together. We had really hoped to share grandchildren some day, but it's not looking like that's going to happen. #sadface

Dawn is the newest member to my "tribe", but she been a vital part of it for a good 10 years. When we lived in Richmond we'd talk on the phone everyday and it wasn't a quick convo. Our families both knew when they came in and we were on the phone with each other they should return in about and hour. #eyerollsallaround

Jeff and Dawn were also part of our gang along with Dave and Alicia in Richmond. We've spent many New Years Eves together and countless nights playing cards and laughing.

I can only hope you find yourself blessed and surrounded by a tribe of women you love.

I don't for a minute take lightly the realization that not all women are as lucky as I am to have such an awesome network and for this I am eternally grateful.
I love you girls!!!♥♥♥

Enjoy this 4 day week friends!!!

Friday Favorites - Lots of things

Friday Favorites

Can you even believe the year is HALF over???
How does time seem to go so quickly?
I don't want summer to end and it's flying by...SLOOOOOW DOWN!!!

It's time to link up with ErikaNarci and Andrea and see what their favorites are this week along with a lot of other fun bloggers.

I bet we'll see some great July 4th favorites, summer favorites, family favorites and more.

Let's get going!!!

ONE

So I've mentioned Snapchat before. Well we are pretty big users of it around here, and by we I mean Katie and myself.

She has been cracking me up this week doing one of these a day

Seriously...she is killing me. Where does she get these ideas?
#hilarious
The criteria was each character had to have a "K" in it. What a clever girl.
I guess if the whole PA thing doesn't work out in college she can be a Snapchat cartoonist.
#KIDDING
I can only imagine the snaps we will be sending each other once she starts school. We will be trying to one up each other everyday.
HAHAHA

TWO

Have you heard of this ice cream called HALO TOP?

My friend Elizabeth told me about when we were in Nashville last week. We went to Kroger to try and find some but it was SOLD OUT. She said it sells out about as soon as it hits the shelves and I believe it.

We found some at our Whole Foods and bought two containers, but the flavors they had were the more "normal" flavors. Chocolate, Vanilla Bean, Strawberry & Lemon Cake.
We came home with vanilla and lemon, but I'm dying to try Mint Chip, Mocha Chip and Birthday Cake.

What's so special about this ice cream????
Well first, it's REALLY LOW CALORIE.
Like a pint only has 240 calories. (well strawberry has 280)

YEP, TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY and NO ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS!!!!
#miracle

Now take a look at the label

Check out the FIBER and PROTEIN!
Who knew ice cream could have FIBER?!?!?!

We are totally smitten with this stuff and now we are on the hunt for the other flavors.

Why yes, I did eat it right out of the carton and added whipped cream. :)

THREE

I've talked about this brand of salad dressing before, here

I'm adding a new favorite flavor to my list

This is seriously some of the best Caesar dressing I've ever had.

See, I'm a fan...and if you look closely you'll see an extra back up bottle right behind those.

FOUR

LOFT is having a 50% off EVERYTHING sale.
#thatsagreatdeal

So if you liked any of the things I highlighted in my Try It On Tuesday post here, then now's the time to order and get yourself a bargain.

Here are a few things I ordered for myself ;)

Shhh...I told Kent I wasn't going to keep them all.
#avoidthefreakout

I love the back of this and think a lace bralette will look adorable with it.

FIVE

New running shoes.
So technically I don't run, but you don't really call them workout shoes.
#thatsjuststupid

Aren't they pretty? I've been wearing Saucony running shoes for about 10 years ever since I went to get fitted when I had plantar fasciitis.  I'm sorry if you've had or have it...it is not fun!!!
Thankfully, I'm over it and hope it doesn't rear it's ugly head again.

My old pair were way past needing replaced so I finally broke down over the weekend and went in to make sure I was still buying the right kind of shoe. (I'm a pronator) It's just amazing how nice a new pair feels. All cushiony♥♥♥

If you need some fun ideas for 4th of July you can check out my Pinterest board HERE

How cute are these?

I hope you enjoy the long weekend, catch some good sales, have some yummy food, spend time with people you love and are thankful for the freedoms we have.
