Friday Favorites #64

Happy Friday y'all! How many of you are headed into a nice long weekend? I cannot believe today is the last day of JUNE. Summer needs to slow waaaayyy down. I am in no way ready for it to go by as quickly as it already is. I am however ready to share Friday Favorites with you and link up with some other blogs so make sure you check at the bottom and see what's going on in blog-land.

You guys know if there one's thing I love it's a good meme and since I surround myself with funny people I seem to be able to come up with funny things to share. I've decided to have a "Friday Funny" as a regular favorite.

This is particularly ironic since I'm fasting today as part of the FASTer Way To Fat Loss program. We started off the end of the first week with a fast and had one last week, this week and finish up the last day (next Sunday) with a fast. Think of me when you eat something yummy today.

We made this tassel rag garland to go in Katie's room a couple of weeks ago and I just think it's so cute. She wanted to do a few things to her room this summer. The pictures hanging are new. She had that in her dorm as well as lights and so we added lights all around the ceiling here and they look so pretty lit up at night. She really wanted to paint her room, but that was BIG FAT NO!

New plants in my pots are always a favorite. This was right after I planted them last week and they are already growing and filling in. Planters filled will beautiful blooms really have a way of brightening up any outdoor space.

My hydrangeas are gorgeous and one of my absolute favorite flowers.

Remember this little cute little top I showed you a few weeks ago? Well it's now ON SALE 40% off. It comes in white, blue/white stripe and this precious gingham. I adore the scallops on the bottom and the bow at the shoulder.

I love having new lipstick!

I can't say enough good things about this little top. It is truly a favorite and I want to wear it everyday. It's all things cute and cool. Embroidery and tassel's and straps, oh my!
Loft is having a great sale with 50% off everything.

In case you missed earlier this week when I shared this AWESOME deal, it's still available. In a nut shell - order any one of our 4 regimens and Lash Boost and receive 20% off both. Order as a Preferred Customer and receive and additional 10% off and FREE shipping. Still not sold? Order today and I'll throw in a FREE FULL SIZE eye cream. It's the best eye cream out there.

Before I go, let's talk 4th of July sales that are starting to show up this weekend.

Compassion International

Are you familiar with an organization called Compassion International? We first learned about it through a girl at our church. She and her husband had been sponsoring a child through this organization for quite a while and she did a presentation for our congregation.

Compassion is an organization that helps children in impoverished countries through sponsorship to be able to obtain education and other means to better their lives. After hearing about this we decided we'd like to sponsor a couple of children ourselves but how do you choose? You can literally see pictures of these precious little ones and pick a child. We didn't want to pick a child based on physical appearance because honestly we figured most people look at them and pick the cutest little faces they see. (not that there is anything wrong with that) We decided to sponsor children with the same birthdays as our kids and narrow it down that way. We chose a little boy with the same birthday as Benny's, but much younger and a girl who is literally the exact same age as Katie, sharing the same birth date. These children are allowed to stay in this program until age 21. (I think that's the oldest they can be)

We had the opportunity recently to visit a local church and see a mock up in the form of several semi-trailers made to look like the home, school and compassion center where these children might live.

We were each provided with headphones and an ipod where the story of a child was narrated through his voice.

It was about 100 degrees outside on this particular day and pretty warm going through these little rooms which probably added to the authenticity of the circumstances these children likely live in.

At the end you are of course given the opportunity to sign up to sponsor a child.

We correspond with our "kids" through letters a couple of times a year. We are able to write to them and it's translated for them and then in turn the write back to us and we are sent the original and a translation. Both of the children we sponsor have families but without funding might not be able to go to school. You can also designate extra funds to be given for their birthdays and Christmas. We received a letter from "our girl" thanking us for one of the monetary gifts and telling us she had bought a goat. Definitely not what a 19 year old here in the states would probably buy.

I think this program is such a great one and would be a really wonderful family project for people with younger kids. Kids would be able to write letters, send pictures and develop an appreciation for all the things they have that these children in other countries don't. It's such an easy way to know you are making a difference in the lives of others.

If you've been looking for a way to do some good in this crazy world, I'd encourage you to look into Compassion International. This is not a sponsored post, but a love post.😉

Happy Thursday!

What's Up Wednesday

It's been quite a few months since I've linked up with these girls for What's Up Wednesday, so it's high time I jump in and share what's going on with the Richardson's here of late. Be sure to check and see what MelShay and Sheaffer are all up to this week too. I'm also linking up with Shelly for her Royally Waiting Wednesday link up. Here's what you'll find out.

What we're eating this week...

Salmon and roasted carrots, red onion and asparagus.

Katie and I are still on our clean eating program which mean Kent is by default.

Spaghetti squash, roasted zucchini and yellow squash, shrimp and homemade marinara.

Baked cod, sauteed green beans and salad.

Buffalo chicken wraps and Cobb salad.

Fruit smoothie bowls

Coffee protein shakes

Trying to get in more water by adding citrus and mint to's not working. I'm just not a water drinker. I dare say I'm dehydrated most of the time since I gave up diet cokes ages ago and my beloved Crystal Light Peach Mango Green Tea when we started eating clean. That doesn't leave me with many choices.

What I'm reminiscing about...

Being back at the beach. I see friends on vacations and want to go back to my happy place.

What I'm loving...

Having this girlie at home and getting to do lots of hanging out with her.

And Rodan + Fields has an awesome deal right now.

Order any one of our 4 regimens and Lash Boost and you'll receive 20% off BOTH. Order as a PC (Preferred Customer) and receive and additional 10% off plus FREE shipping.

Katie and I have both had AH-MAZING results with Lash Boost and I will never go without it.

Those are my baby blues right there and you can see what a huge difference it's made for me and just how much lashes make your eyes POP!

Leave a comment or email me with any questions. Take this quick quiz and find which regimen is right for you. Email the results to yourself and I'll get a copy too. If I get an email with your results, I'll send you a mini-facial to try.

What we've been up to...

Working out and then working out some more.

 Playing with little friends.

What I'm dreading...

The end of summer and Katie going back to school which will actually be going to Florence, Italy for the semester. Exciting for her. Nerve wracking for the mama😉.

What I'm working on...

No huge projects, but changing up things here and there around the house and adding a few festive 4th of July decorations.

What I'm excited about...

In a week and a half our friends we always stay with in Nashville will be here to visit and we can repay some of their never ending hospitality.

What I'm watching/reading...

Reruns! Is anyone else ready for the new seasons of TV to start? We are bored to death. We've watched everything we had recorded on the DVR and now we sit and wait.

I've come to the conclusion that all my past magazine reading has been replaced with blogs.

Some of my daily reads are:

and a bunch of others. Check out the sidebar to see a list of bloggers you might like to check out. These are the girls I'm in contact with most days through our blogs and it's such a great community.

What I'm listening to...

We LOVE Alexa! I had no idea we'd use her so much, but you just come downstairs and say, "Alexa, play country music" and on it comes. Love it!!!

Get your own Alexa HERE

What I'm wearing...

 tee // jeans // wedges // purse

What I'm doing this weekend...

We are going to have company for the next week. Well, really the next month cycling in and out.

What I'm looking forward to next month...

Making a trip to Oklahoma to see Kent's parents and Benny is meeting us there.

What else is new...

I'm in week 5 of 6 of the FASTer Way to Fat Loss. I can see a difference in the way my clothes fit and I can tell I'm getting stronger. Is this something y'all are interested in learning more about? I thought I'd do a post on it once I'm done.

Hope you're having a great week. I was MIA yesterday. Monday I woke up with a stomach bug and slept most of the day and never got around to blogging. Thankfully yesterday was I almost completely back to myself and today I'll be 100%.
